Photo of the week - 21/02/25
Sunset - Owenahincha Beach, West Cork
I must admit, I have a bit if a soft spot for this location and these particular rocks peaking out of the shorebreak. I have photographed them a number of times but wanted to do something a little different with this image.
In previous photos, I have used relatively long exposures, like 30-60 seconds to smooth out the water as it comes in with the waves and wraps around the rocks. With this photo, I wanted to try and time a shorter, long(isch) exposure to still create the effect of a longer exposure but with the wave just at its peak. I was hoping to give the image a slightly more dynamic but still calm feel.
Iām not going to lie- it took quite a lot of attempts to time it and I very nearly ran out of light and there was also only a very short period of time when the sky was that wonderful colour.
The subject of waves and seascapes has long been among my very favourite scenes to photograph and I love how every moment captured will never occur again in that same constellation between tide, waves, light and colours.
