The howling cold wind took my breath away as I got out of the car. I donned my parka, grabbed my bag and tripod and headed down to the water’s edge where the waves were breaking over the rocks.

With this photo, I wanted to try and time a shorter, long(isch) exposure to still create the effect of a longer exposure but with the wave just at its peak.

I had the opportunity to spend a few days in South Dublin, around Dalkey and Killiney in January for a photo and video shoot I was doing for a client. I used to live not far from there in the late nineties and it’s always nice to come back to this area.

I was out on a photo beach-walk at Long Strand again last week but the big waves after Storm Éowyn had subsided. As the sun started to set though, I noticed how the warm golden light was reflecting off the water and I wondered if there was an opportunity for a more abstract image.
